3 TIMEly tips for First-time home buyers

Buying a house today is so easy. Just connect your laptops to the internet, ask Google about the house for sale in your preferred area and poof! There you have it – a list of websites and listings of all (might not be) for sale houses in that area.

People start shopping based on what they think they want, when at the end of the day, the house that they bought has nothing to do with what they want. It is actually happening. We might be speeding the process, not thinking well and get too much excited.

Today, I’ll be sharing with you 3 TIMEly tips for first-home buyers. These are from Ryan Serhant, a Broker at Million Dollar Listing New York.

Go get a pre-approved home loan
Getting a pre-approved home loan is as easy as 1-2-3. Pick up the phone and call the banker or walk into the bank.  If you are getting a loan and looking around for a house and not yet approved already, you are like walking in the mall with no wallet. It is a waste of time because maybe you can afford a lot more.

Work with a Broker
Always work with a Broker. This might sound biased for him but we should understand that brokers are the people that arrange the transaction between a buyer and a seller. The seller might be busy and working on some matters that might be the reasons why he hires a broker to do the selling and arrangement.  Brokers are friends. The main advantage of working a broker is that they know the market well more than us.

Buy within your means
This simply means not to over stretch yourself just to buy the house, because you’ll never know what might happen next. If you’re not comfortable with it, then be it. Look for other properties. There are lots and lots of houses there waiting for you.

I’m sharing this because my Aunt used these tips to buy her new house and lot in Batangas here in the Philippines. The house makes her happy and his family. It is a dream-come-true for them.
